M.04. Democracy Education and A.I. in the Geopolitical Disorder. A Proposal for a New Democratic Citizenship
In this geopolitical disorder the link between the values of western democracies and the other system of autocracies is determined by an environment saturated with different technological manipulations and the ideology of disinformation. In this perspective the classic relationship between democracy and education, as John Dewey defined it in Democracy and Education of 1916, must be completely reconstructed. The democracy’s crisis is developing because the global society is more and more characterized by the power of the economic and financial oligarchies which limit the democratic participation of the people. To recover the authentic meaning of democracy it is necessary to contrast the ideology of disinformation, proposing a new curriculum in the school and university, based on a model of new citizenship in which there is a fertile hybridization between education, didactics and A.I. to reconstruct democracy. The panel will try to analyze the relationship between A.I. and democratic debate to promote in the school and university the empowerment of the critical thinking and the epistemic responsibility for the students and the teachers. The only possibility of salvation and peace in this geopolitical disorder is the reconstruction of the relationship between democracy and education, using the algorithm system to improve the sustainable development in our global society.
