Loredana Sciolla is a full professor of Sociology at the University of Turin since 1998, where she also teaches Sociology of culture. Since 1993 until 1998 she was full professor of Sociology of knowledge at the Faculty of Political Sciences, Turin. Previously, she was professor at the University of Florence (1990-1992) and Associate Professor at the University of Turin (1984-1989). Professor Sciolla was Chair of the Department of Social Sciences of the University of Turin (1998-2001), Member of the Executive Board of the Italian Sociological Association (AIS) (1989-1991), Chair of Cultural Institutions and Processes Section of the Italian Sociological Association (1996-1999). From 1995 to 1998 and from 2007 to 2010 she has been editor of “Rassegna Italiana di Sociologia”. She is member of the Editorial Board of many journals (e.g., “Rassegna Italiana di Sociologia”, “La società degli individui”, “Iride. Filosofia e discussione pubblica”, “Quaderni di Teoria Sociale”, “il Mulino”). Prof. Loredana Sciolla also takes part in the Scientific Committees of “Sociologica”, “Iride. Filosofia e discussione pubblica”, “Partecipazione e conflitto” . She is Foreign Correspondent of “Sociétés contemporaines” and Member of the Scientific Council of the Istituto della Enciclopedia Treccani, Rome.
